Terms and Conditions for Participants

Please read carefully before applying

The following terms and conditions include all refund scenarios, re-placement scenarios, and cancellation details. Please make sure you have read this page clearly and understand everything here before applying. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to all terms and conditions listed on this page.

General Terms and Conditions

  1. Money back guarantee : If a student is not placed on time, or in one of the fields chosen at the time of their registration, they will have the option to withdraw from the program and receive a full refund. No administrative fees will be deducted from this refund.
  2. All Paid Internship Program Placements are paid at a stipend rate of between $200 and $350.
  3. Working Holiday Jobs are paid at minimum wage ($8.00/hour) or above.
  4. Paid Internship Placements can be in Metro Vancouver’s Translink zones 1, 2, or 3. Unpaid Placements can be in Metro Vancovuer Translink zones 1 and 2. Working Holiday placements are done on a separate zone system.
  5. VancouverInternships will typically arrange the student’s first internship interview 4 weeks before their internship start date.
  6. If a student fails their internship interview, they will be informed of the reason for their failure within 48 hours. VancouverInternships will then arrange a second interview. The student’s internship date may be moved 1 week later to give enough time for a second interview.
  7. Students will go to interviews until they are given an internship offer. They will go to a maximum of 5 interviews. If a student fails 5 interviews, they will be given the option of changing programs or withdrawing from the internship program with no refund.
  8. If a student withdraws from the internship program before their interview, they will receive a full refund of their fees, less a $300 administrative fee.
  9. If a student withdraws from the internship program after their interview has been arranged, they will not receive a refund.
  10. Students who refuse an internship interview due to company size, notoriety or location, will be withdrawn from the internship program. They will receive a refund, less a $300 administrative fee.
  11. Students who refuse an internship placement offer due to company size, notoriety or location, will be withdrawn from the internship program with no refund.
  12. If a student is laid off from their internship placement (and has at least 4 months remaining), a new start date will be issued 2 weeks from the date of layoff. The student will the be placed at a new host company at no additional cost. If a student has less than 4 months remaining in their internship, they may be offered a new placement in a different program.
  13. If a student is fired from their internship for poor performance, poor attitude, lateness, or poor attendance, their participation in the program will end with no refund and no re-placement. If a student is fired from a company for poor English they will be considered laid off (see point 12).
  14. If a student requests to end their internship early, they must give at least 10 days notice to Vancouver Internships and their host company. If they are quitting due to racial or sexual harassment, or abuse of any sort, they will be considered laid off (see point 12). If a student quits with no notice to the host company or VancouverInternships, they will not receive a refund or a new placement.
  15. Students must complete regular monthly reports during their internship placement.
  16. If a student would like an unpaid vacation during their internship, they must request this of their employer directly. Students must give VancouverInternships 10 days notice of any approved vacation time. The employer has the right to decline vacation time.
  17. If an internship host offers the student a permanent job, they are free to accept. Visa processing will be the responsibility of the student and their employer. VancouverInternships and the school will not be involved in any way.
  18. Students must adhere to all employer rules and regulations (written or unwritten) and must sign company confidentialy agreements if requested.
  19. Students must have medical coverage for their entire stay in Canada, and must offer proof of this to VancouverInternships and to their internship host.
  20. Students must strictly adhere to all health and safety regulations for their workplace. Health and safety issues are covered extensively in internship reports, and students must be proactive in learning as much as possible about them.
  21. If a student must does not receive a visa to come to Canada, they will receive a full refund with no deductions or administrative fees other than those due to currency conversion and electronic transfer rates.
