The new visa is called the Youth Mobility and it is administered by an organization called BUNAC*. BUNAC offers two versions of Canadian Youth Mobility Visa:

Working Holiday (Students)

This is a one-year visa, open to British post-secondary students or recent graduates between the ages of 18 and 30. No prior job offer is required and visas are completely open, allowing you to work for as many employers as you choose. Numbers are limited, though the quota is often not filled until later in the year.

Working Holiday (Non-Students)

This is a one-year visa, open to any British citizen between the ages of 18 and 30. No prior job offer is required and visas are completely open, allowing you to work for as many employers as you choose. Numbers are very limited and the quota is often exhausted before summer.

Serivces to BUNAC Visa Holders

Because your BUNAC visa includes many of the same landing services offered in VancouverInternships' Working Holiday Program, we discourage UK citizens from applying. VancouverInternships does however welcome inquiries from UK students in both our Student Internship Program and in our Paid Internship Program. Please view program pages for more details.

un  ALL COUNTRIES

Citizens from all countries can come to Canada to participate in Work and Study programs. These programs combine a period of studies with an equal or lesser period of internship. VancouverInternships currently offers intensive language studies and internship programs at our partner schools here in Vancouver.

Study for as little as 4 weeks and as long as 6 months and follow that with an internship of equal duration. Internships can be in any field from accounting to engineering to law and finance (and more). Most internships are unpaid, but internships and work terms lasting 3 months and longer can be paid.

To come to Canada for one of these programs, you will need both a study permit and a work permit. The first part, the study permit, is required for programs lasting 6 months and longer (including both your study time and your internship time). If your program is under 6 months, you can still apply for a study permit, but the chances of receiving it are low.

As for the work permit, this comes attached to the study permit. To qualify for this attached work permit, you must meet the following conditions:

  • You must have a valid study permit.
  • Your intended employment must be an essential part of your program of study in Canada.
  • Your employment must be part of your academic program, certified by a letter from a responsible academic official of the institution.
  • Your co-op or internship employment cannot form more than 50 percent of the total program of study.

All Vancouver Internships Work and Study Programs meet the above requirements. Click here to learn more about those programs.
