Work and Travel in Western Canada
The Working Holiday Program gives you the chance to live and travel accross Canada, while topping up your savings with work.
This program is exclusive to people from outside of Canada who hold Working Holiday, Youth Mobility, or International Experience Canada Visas. You can learn more about those on our visa page.
Program Features : Zone 1
Working Holiday placement in Metro Vancouver or Whistler. This costs $750 and includes:
- 3-6 month placement
- Resume and Interview Preparation
- Orientation session
- 1 week's accommodation in Vancouver
- Access to additional job postings on My.VancouverInternships.ca
Once registered in the program, VancouverInternships will place you in a working holiday job at one of your preferred destinations. Destinations are broken into 2 zones:
Zone 1: Metro Vancouver and Whistler.
In Zone 1, you'll get the big city feel, or the chic resort life. In Vancouver you can work in restaurants, cafes, or in labouring positions. Sample jobs include busser, and kitchen help. In Whistler you will work primarily at hotels in back of house positions like housekeeping or food and beverage services. Your specific job will depend on company availability. You can choose to work in Vancouver at any time. Whistler is open for work starting in November and May.
Zone 2: the Rockies, Vancouver Island, or resort areas of British Columbia (excluding. Whistler)
Zone 2 covers a huge area and dozens of ski resorts, summer resorts and hundreds of hotel jobs. Ski resorts are spread through the Rocky Mountains, the Okanagan Valley, and Vancouver Island, while summer jobs are concentrated in the Okanagan Valley.
Program Features : Zone 2
Working Holiday placement in the Rockies, Vancouver Island, or resort areas of British Columbia (excl. Whistler). This program costs $600 and includes:
- 3-6 month placement
- Resume and Interview Preparation
- 2 day's accommodation in Vancouver
- Orientation session
- Staff accommodation on site.
- Access to additional job postings on My.VancouverInternships.ca
Typical job placements include housekeeping, food and beverage services, labouring positions for the resorts like snow groomer and groundskeeper, and restaurant positions at the larger hotels. Each of these job placements comes with staff accommdation. Start dates at the resorts are November and June.
When you register in the program and choose from either Zone 1 or Zone 2, our staff will assist you preparing your resume, run you through an interview practice and arrange a phone interview with you and a Canadian employer. Once you are given a placement offer, and arrange your visas and flights, we will sort out accommodation, conduct an orientation with you in Vancouver, and then 2 days later, send you off to your resort to begin work.
